Still Life in Muted Colour (Year 7 & 8)

Wed 26 November 2025 09:00 am - 02:30 pm

Introduce your students to the quirky world of Archibald Prize-winning artist Mitch Cairns in our Enrichment Program inspired by his exhibition Restless Legs. Known for his stylised imagery, refined brushwork, and restricted colour palette, Cairns’ work offers a unique lens into contemporary Australian art.

Students will begin with a guided tour of the exhibition, gaining insight into Cairns’ creative process and visual language. The tour is followed by two hands-on artmaking activities.

Still Life Drawing
Students will experiment with muted and restricted colours to create their own compositions, echoing Cairns’ distinctive style.

Text-Based Artwork
Inspired by Cairns’ series of text-based prints, students will explore the intersection of language and visual art in their own expressive creations.
